Addressing the public without bullet proof shields

This terrace in Lahore fort is the place where mughal emperors came to address the general public. The second photo shows the lawns where public gathered to have a glimpse of the kings as well as listen to them.

Good old days. No bullet proof shields were needed, no bomb disposal squads, no sniffer dogs etc.
