Procrastination (not having enough motivation to do things on your priority list) is a phenomenon everyone experiences often in work life. Many times it takes a hell lot of will power and determination to overcome.
Here is a simple tip which often results in taking control of your life back into your hands in 10-30 minutes:
- Open a free account at hiveminder.com.
- Create a list of things to do using “brain dump” feature of this free service. Using tags, divide your todo list into four categories: immediate, short-term, medium-term and long-term.
This will achieve two things:
- Instead of feeding your procrastination genie with wasteful activities, you will be clearing up your mind. Procrastination starts to set in when we try to keep too many things in our short term memory. Delegate this task to hiveminder.com.
- Listing down and assigning time zones will bring reality on what can be done and when. Trying to do too many things at once is another reason of procrastination.
And relax. You are not required to strictly follow your todo list as you have defined (or even refer to it until your next procrastination ‘illness’.)
Share your tips. Happy de-procrastinating.
